What is problem solving? According to Wikipedia, “problem solving is a mental process in psychology and a computerised process in computer science. It is part of a larger process that also includes problem finding and problem shaping. Considered the most complex of all intellectual functions, problem solving has been defined as higher-order cognitive process that requires the modulation and control of more routine or fundamental skills.”
Why problem solving skill is important to your child? Problems facing are part of our lives – no matter simple or complicated. The crucial part is to allow children understand the problems and develop solutions by themselves in early stage. When they make decisions, their self-confidence, creativity and collaboration skill with different kind of people will build up.
Such problem solving process shares the same idea in STEM concept. As a STEM education provider, we believe if we provide children with a good foundation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, they can learn how to solve problems step-by-step, while developing their critical thinking and creativity throughout the journey.
The world is changing and children sure need more exposure so they can think out-of-the-box and get well equipped for their future lives.
